Deburring expertise meets machine tool know-how
How can parts be produced as #burrfree as possible directly on the machine? This question is becoming increasingly important in modern machining. Through regular collaboration with leading machine tool manufacturers, we combine machine and application expertise with our specialized deburring know-how. In joint in-house workshops, we explore new tooling solutions, specific applications, and machining strategies – with one shared goal: to make CNC processes more efficient and as seamless as possible.
A burr can form in seconds. Removing it reliably, however, can be a real challenge. Holes, hard-to-reach edges, threads, and complex contours each place different demands on the tool and machining strategy.
Wherever manual rework is still required, it adds time and makes processes more difficult to reproduce consistently. This is exactly where our technical exchange with machine tool manufacturers and their application experts comes in.
Effective deburring starts with understanding the process
Which tool is best suited for a specific deburring task? How can hard-to-reach areas be machined effectively? And which operations can be integrated directly into the CNC machine? These are exactly the questions at the center of our in-house workshops.
This is where in-depth knowledge of the machine and machining process meets our specialized deburring expertise.
During the theory session, we use specific applications, sample tools, components, and videos to explore different approaches to machine-based deburring. Participants contribute their own questions and experience directly to the technical discussion.
The practical session then moves directly to the machine, where different deburring strategies are demonstrated live within the machining process and evaluated together.
Deburring expertise meets machine tool know-how
The workshops held over the past several months demonstrate the growing importance of machine-based deburring for leading machine tool manufacturers.
At EMAG in Salach, as well as at several DMG MORI and INDEX centers, the focus was on real-world manufacturing challenges, new tooling solutions, and different machining strategies.
Following the technical discussions, the workshops moved directly to the machine. There, different deburring strategies could be evaluated and discussed under real machining conditions.
It is precisely this combination of machine tool expertise, specialized deburring know-how, and real machining applications that makes these workshops valuable for everyone involved – while continually opening up new opportunities for more efficient manufacturing processes.
#burrfree straight out of the machine
For our live demonstrations, we have developed dedicated sample parts that allow us to demonstrate a wide range of deburring applications under realistic conditions – on both lathes and machining centers. From holes and contours to hard-to-reach edges, we demonstrate how different deburring solutions can be integrated directly into the CNC machining process.
A few examples:
What matters is not the number of tools, but selecting the right tool for the specific machining task and integrating it effectively into the overall process.
Less manual rework. Greater process reliability.
The shared objective is clear: deburring should take place wherever the part is already being machined.
Integrating deburring into the CNC process can reduce manual rework, ease the workload for operators, and help create more consistent, repeatable processes. Achieving this requires the machine, tooling, and machining strategy to work together as an integrated system.
That is why close collaboration with machine tool manufacturers and their application experts is an important part of our work. Together, we explore new applications and machining strategies – with the goal of continuously improving manufacturing processes and producing parts as #burrfree straight out of the machine as possible.
