ExBurrDrill:
Burr-Minimal & "Burr-Free" Drilling
Solid carbide drill for producing burr-minimized bore exits without drill caps
MINIMAL BURR AT MAXIMUM FEED RATE
The innovative KEMPF ExBurrDrill solid carbide drill sets new standards in burr minimization—without compromising feed rate. Drill caps will soon be a thing of the past.
Important: We manufacture the KEMPF ExBurrDrill in custom dimensions for your application. Available in diameter ranges from Ø 1.0 mm to Ø 20.00 mm, with or without internal coolant (IC), as well as in a step drill variant (StuBo).

When drill caps and exit burrs must be avoided, the innovative solid carbide drill for burr-minimal drilling offers clear advantages. Thanks to its special tool geometry, burr formation at the bore exit is reduced to a minimum. Using this new drill eliminates the need for a subsequent deburring operation. This lowers process and, if applicable, setup costs and reduces the machining time of the component.
For very high requirements regarding burr-free components, a process-reliable, downstream burr removal is enabled. The burr root of the exit burr is minimal. The subsequent deburring tool can shear off the burr root reliably. This significantly extends the tool life of the deburring tool.

Burr-minimal, fast & durable The KEMPF ExBurrDrill represents a tool development that enables burr-minimal drilling without compromising tool life or process speeds. Even with unfavorable bore exit positions on curved surfaces, radii, or inclines, burr-minimal bore exits have been successfully achieved. |
ExBurrDrill compared to a conventional standard drill
The images speak for themselves.
On the left is the result of drilling with a conventional drill commonly used in practice. Notice the significant material buildup on the bore contour and the pronounced drill cap.
On the right, the result of drilling with the ExBurrDrill is shown. Due to its special geometry, the drill shears off the drill cap directly and minimizes the burr at the bore exit. Depending on the component requirements, a subsequent deburring step can be completely eliminated.
We manufacture the KEMPF ExBurrDrill in custom sizes for your application
To achieve burr-minimal bore machining, we manufacture the KEMPF ExBurrDrill tailored to your application. Taking into account the engagement conditions at the bore exit on your component and the workpiece material, the tool geometry of the ExBurrDrill is parametrically designed.
Use custom tool manufacturing to combine multiple process steps in a single drilling operation. By using an ExBurrDrill step drill, both the downstream deburring process and a countersinking or reaming operation can be eliminated. This reduces tool change times as well as machining times on the machine.
We are pleased to manufacture the KEMPF ExBurrDrill for you in diameter ranges from Ø 1.0 mm to Ø 20.00 mm, with or without internal coolant (IC), as well as in the step drill variant (StuBo).
