APPLICATION AREAS
Applications in medical technology, automotive manufacturing, and the electrical industry increasingly require machining and deburring of very small bores. The new Micro Burraway was developed for these types of applications and can deburr both the front and back sides of even the smallest holes starting at 1.00 mm diameter in a single operation. The tool is suitable for materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, and even composites.
The Micro Burraway series features a flexible blade that retracts into the mandrel to adapt to the bore diameter. The tool consists of cost-effective, replaceable cutting inserts (available in various sizes) with an integrated blade and a standard body equipped with a 6 mm shank, allowing easy clamping in various tool holders.
Two blade types are offered: a DA blade (Dual Acting), which enables front and back deburring in one operation, and a BA blade (Back Acting), which deburrs only the backside of the workpiece. The front side is then rounded.
The two-part design allows you to change a cutting insert within seconds while the micro tool is still in the spindle. Each cutting insert features an HSS blade that can deburr countless holes before the holder needs to be replaced. The special surface of the blade does not damage the bore’s internal surface.
