Seven tools for burr-free components straight out of the machine | teamtec Open House
From April 23 to April 25, 2024, 20 exhibitors presented a diverse range of tooling and machining solutions during the 13th Technology Days at teamtec Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH. The forward-looking event attracted more than 140 visitors from over 80 companies.
As a leading provider of customized complete solutions for CNC manufacturing, the focus was naturally on the latest machines from the machine tool manufacturers represented by teamtec: AXILE, BIGLIA, and REMA CONTROL – but a machine alone does not make a future-proof manufacturing solution.
For this reason, deburring specialist KEMPF was also present with a selection of deburring solutions and equipped the BIGLIA B 465T2Y2 CNC turning center with a total of 7 tools for four-axis simultaneous machining of a complex component.
The burr-free production of a guide bushing made of case-hardened steel was demonstrated.
The bores were produced using the burr-minimal drills KEMPF TriCut and KEMPF ExBurrDrill.
For pure deburring operations at the bore exits, the Back-Burr Cutter & Path deburring system and the GMO deburring tool were used. The edges were machined with the KEMPF ibex compensating holder, the thread groove with the Burrless Chamfering Cutter, and the thread flanks themselves with the ceramic fiber brush “WheelBrush.”
This enabled the component to be produced “#burrfree straight out of the machine,” and numerous live demonstrations at the machine showed that manual deburring is a thing of the past. The advantages of machine deburring are obvious – and these were impressively demonstrated.
Marcus Schneider, Technical Field Service at KEMPF, was on site to answer many questions and explain various tooling solutions and their benefits.
Especially the various brush solutions made of high-performance ceramics and the KEMPF ibex compensating holder attracted strong interest from users.
